King Taksin The Great’s Monument At the heart of Muang Chanthaburi on Thaluang Road opposite the old governor office, stands the salient majestic monument surrounded by ditch to hold water for public boat rowing and for fish culture of provincial fisheries.Built in 1893, the building houses a bronze horse-ridding statue of King Tak Sin the Great together with his 4-right-hand warlords: Phachiang-Nern, Luangphichai-Asa, Luangprom-Sena, and Luangpracha-Sanei collectivelly constructed by the people of Chanthaburi for honoring the memory of the Great King in selecting Chanthaburi as the place in gaining manpower, food supplies, and armaments to liberate the country from Burma aggression. This monument presently becomes a sealant banknote of Thai-20-Baht legally payable. |
